The CIAC’s Class Act Schools initiative is designed to empower schools and particularly students to take ownership for all issues related to sportsmanship within the athletics department.

Doing so includes striving to follow an established set of guidelines for behavior at sporting events and create a student-led group to monitor and address sportsmanship concerns within the school.

The Class Act Council here at Grasso Tech will be the primary way that sportsmanship will be promoted and encouraged.

Interact is Grasso’s service club sponsored by the Groton Rotary. Interact’s name is a combination of the words international and action. Interact’s global youth network is dedicated to community and international service. Every Interact club project, great or small, has a lasting impact on society worldwide.

Grasso Interact has three annual projects, plus other projects as determined by the members. Our annual projects are the holiday toy drive for Toys for Tots; Restock the Locker Food Drive to benefit the Gemma Moran United Way Food Bank; and a collection of toiletries for the Haitian Health Foundation in Jeremie, Haiti.

Membership is open to all grades. Join us to make a difference in your world!

The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921.

At Grasso Tech, NHS members provide service to the school and community. They volunteer at local events, such as Open House and Freshmen Orientation. They also facilitate four blood drives at the school each year. Students also need to maintain personal service logs and high standards of scholarship, leadership and character.

Application Process

NHS Requirements for 2026-2027 applicants

• Scholarship
  • Current Grade 10 – cumulative GPA through 3rd MP = 93 or higher
  • Current Grade 11 – cumulative GPA through 3rd MP = 90 or higher
• Leadership
  • Serve at least one role as a leader in school or outside of school
  • Must give a reference
• Community Service
  • A minimum of 15 hours of community service over the past year (Mrs. Jameson has log sheets in Rm 224)
  • Must give a reference
• Character
  • Your academic teachers, shop instructors, administration and the committee must agree that you display positive character traits
  • Disciplinary record will be examined for each student

Student mentors are seniors that serve as mentors to the incoming ninth grade students. Their responsibilities include working with the teachers during the ninth grade orientation on the first day of school and meeting with their orientation groups regularly during the school year. During orientation, the mentors help the students get to know each other, discuss with them the differences between high school, and middle school and teach them about the important elements of Grasso Tech.

During the school year, the mentors are asked to revisit their orientation groups several times during the school year in order to facilitate discussions around predetermined topics. Their main role is to be positive, reliable role models for the ninth graders. They provide a much needed student connection and help the freshmen make a successful transition to Grasso Tech by making them feel welcome, answering their questions, and sharing their experiences with them.

Students for Recovery is a student-run program based on three pillars; Support, Awareness, and Advocacy, created to normalize and bring awareness to recovery as well as to provide a safe program for high schoolers to ask for help.

To date, they have successfully brought the community together, which includes Grasso Tech students, at their annual Recovery Fest and Recovery Summit. Currently, they are working towards opening a student-run wellness center to create a physical safe place and an opportunity for change.

Membership is open to all grades. Join to make a difference!

The video game club is open to all students at Grasso Tech. Members discuss the latest games and consoles in addition to playing each other on the big screen! The club meets on Fridays after school from 2:05 to 4:00 in the Information Technology Trade Area. Students are encouraged to bring consoles, controllers and games to connect to Smartboards and play with other students. All games need to be school appropriate.

New members can attend free for their first visit, while returning members must pay $1.00.
